Launch of the "Water & Risk" group and other developments
At KWB, our mission centres on cutting-edge research and developing innovative, practical solutions. To meet the growing demands in water management, we are proud to announce the establishment of our new research group, "Water & Risk." This milestone marks a significant step forward in our evolution and reinforces our commitment to tackling current challenges through an interdisciplinary approach.
"Water & Risk": A Strategic Focus on the Future
Led by Wolfgang Seis, who assumed his new role on April 1st 2025, the "Water & Risk" group is dedicated to quantifying and assessing risks in water supply and sanitation systems. The aim is to develop and implement innovative methods for modelling and analysing risks, enabling informed, forward-looking decisions in water management. The group’s focus encompasses health, environmental, physical, and digital risks. Wolfgang and his interdisciplinary team bring together expertise from various fields to address these challenges holistically.
New Structure in Software Development
In addition to the launch of "Water & Risk," there are further updates to share: Antoine Daurat has taken on the thematic leadership of the new "Software Development" unit, which is integrated into the "Smart City & Infrastructure" research group led by Nicolas Caradot. This new unit will focus on creating bespoke software solutions tailored to the needs of the sector.
Changes in our group structure: Farewell and a fresh start
As part of these organisational changes, we bid farewell to our former group leader, David Steffelbauer. He has left KWB to return to his home country and establish his own company. We look forward to collaborating with David in the future.
David’s former research group, "Hydroinformatics," will now be integrated into existing teams and the newly formed "Water & Risk" group. This ensures the continuity of his valuable work while aligning it with our new strategic priorities.
Building a strong foundation for future success
These structural and personnel changes reflect our ambition to position KWB as a leader in research and development within urban water management, creating tangible benefits for society.
